In July, the Chairman of FTSE-100 listed Serco, Alastair Lyons CBE, visited the International Fire Training Centre to meet the team and to get a feel for the customer experience on offer. The visit was part of a broader tour of Serco’s Resilience and Training business undertaken by the Chairman. Alastair, who was appointed to this post in 2010, first visited the Emergency Planning College where Serco delivers emergency planning, business continuity and crisis management training. He was then shown around IFTC’s world class fire ground and saw aviation fire fighters being put through their paces on two helicopter simulators and the Cat 8, three of the fourteen multi-burn training rigs that are available to our UK and international clients. Alastair commented afterwards,
“What a great experience. It made vivid the dangerous, uncertain conditions in which fire fighters may be called to operate and I’m delighted that Serco can support the aviation community by offering this unique, authentic blend of practical and virtual training”.
